Sharjah business setup: frequently asked questions

Straight answers to the questions founders ask most about setting up in Sharjah's SPC Free Zone — covering cost, timelines, ownership, visas, banking, the dual licence, and 2026 corporate-tax and e-invoicing rules.

How much does it cost to set up in SPC Free Zone?

A licence starts at AED 4,499 with our 10% discount (SPC list AED 4,999), issued instantly. A typical all-in setup with one visa and co-working runs about AED 13,700 once the establishment card, E-Channel, visa and workspace are added. Rates include VAT; government fees are extra. See the full cost breakdown.

How long does setup take?

With complete documents, an SPC licence is issued instantly. Each residence visa takes about five to seven working days.

Can I own 100% of my company?

Yes. All Sharjah free zones, including SPC, allow 100% foreign ownership with no local sponsor. Most mainland activities now also allow full foreign ownership.

Do I need a local sponsor?

No. An SPC free-zone company needs no local sponsor or service agent. You hold and control the company outright.

What is the dual licence?

The dual licence lets one company hold both a free-zone and a mainland (SEDD) licence, so you keep free-zone benefits while also serving UAE mainland clients — without forming two separate entities.

How many visas can I get?

Your quota depends on your package and office. A flexi-desk supports a small number of visas; a private office supports more. See visa & PRO services.

Do I pay corporate tax?

All UAE companies must register for corporate tax. A qualifying free-zone person can keep 0% on qualifying income; other income is taxed at 9% above the threshold. Correct structure and bookkeeping protect the 0% — see corporate tax registration.

What about e-invoicing in 2026?

The UAE is rolling out mandatory e-invoicing. Getting your accounting set up to produce compliant e-invoices now avoids a scramble later — see e-invoicing readiness.
